It is with great excitement that I write to introduce myself to you as a candidate for Shawnee County Commissioner for the Second District. My wife, Julie, and I have been blessed to live in Shawnee County for the last 19 years. This is home. We met at Washburn University and after graduation from Washburn University we were married and are now raising three beautiful children here. This is home and it’s a great place to grow a family, build friendships, start a business, and “do life”. This community has provided us with faith, family, friends, and plenty of opportunities to serve.
As a resident and business owner in the Second District, I am very cognizant of the cost of doing business and the needs of the citizens in the Second District of Shawnee County. These experiences will allow me to approach the issues facing the Shawnee County Commission with an informed background. Our citizens deserve leaders who have the ability to understand current issues and the capacity to bring forward fiscally responsible ideas and initiatives. Our citizens deserve leaders who are open and available. Quite simply, you deserve leaders who can truly lead.
I know how to get things done and have a track record of leadership in our County. I value the people here. I value transportation – the ability to get in and around our county safely. I value safety – the ability to properly fund our law enforcement agencies to protect all citizens of Shawnee County. I value building partnerships to maximize Taxpayer’s dollars. I value a thriving business community that keeps our tax rate low and broadens options for work and free time.
I respectfully ask for your support and vote in the upcoming Democratic Primary to allow me the privilege of representing the citizens of Shawnee County as the District Two County Commissioner.
